Tawa Pulav is a Maharashtrian recipe.Actually It is a simple pulav recipe made using many raw and boiled vegetables.This is a street food.In Mumbai,street vendor make this yummy and healthy recipe.Lots of red chilly and pav bhaji masala is used to make this recipe.It is very tasty and tangy.Mostly vendors make this recipe very tasty and spicy.Street vendor make this pulav on big tawa but in homes,you can make this recipe in any pan or wok,If you have no big tawa and the taste will be the same.
Ingredients for making TAWA PULAV
Step1
On a big tawa as I made this pulav in video,put 2tsp butter and allow it to melt.
Step2
Add onion and stir fry till it becomes translucent .Add cumin seeds and when they start to crackle, add ginger garlic paste.Again stir to avoid raw smell of ginger and garlic.
Step3
Add chopped capsicum and stir fry for 3-4 minutes.Then add chopped cabbage and stir it for 2-3 minutes.
Step4
In this vendor style Tawa Pulav recipe butter is added in batches.Now again add 2tsp butter and add hot spices as turmeric powder,red chilly powder,pav bhaji masala and do not forget to stir continuously.
Step5
Add chopped tomatoes and stir it for 3-4 minutes.Add water little by little to avoid thick consistency.
Step6
It is time to add boiled vegetables.So add peas,potatoes and a carrot.These are boiled vegetables.Mix all the ingredients very
well.
Step7
Add salt to taste and spicy tomato puree.This tomato puree is made by using fresh red tomatoes and dry red chilies.
Step8
After mixing all the ingredients, mash all the ingredients by using masher.This recipe is also known as Pav Bhaji Pulav because same process is used in Pav Bhaji recipe.
Step9
After mashing the vegetables add boiled rice.While boiling the rice I have added salt and turmeric powder.So they look yellow.Mostly in Tawa Pulav recipe boiled rice with turmeric powder is used.
Step10
Now finish and garnish the Tawa Pulav recipe with fresh chopped coriander leaves.

- Butter 4-5tsp
- Onion(chopped)2-3
- Ginger,garlic paste 1tsp
- Green chilies 2-3
- Red chilly powder 1/2tsp

- Garam masala 1/2tsp
- Cumin seeds 1/2tsp
- Cabbage(chopped) 1cup
- Capsicum 1
- Tomato 2-3
- Carrot(boiled) 2-3 medium sized
- Peas (boiled)1/2cup
- Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
- Spicy tomato puree 2-3tsp
- salt to taste
- Fresh chopped coriander leaves
